Hampshire Down Lamb Group was established in 2020 by four Northern Ireland Pedigree Hampshire Down breeders – Trevor Todd, Rodney Wilson, Kevin McCarthy, and Allen McFadden. We are all members of the Hampshire Down Sheep Breeders Association (Northern Ireland) and have been breeding Hampshire Downs and selling locally for many years. The feedback from consumers was so positive that it spurred us to come together to develop the brand and put our locally produced Hampshire Down lamb on the dinner plates of families throughout Northern Ireland.
Together, we share a desire to educate local people on the superior taste of lamb meat from the Hampshire Down sheep and to build a network of stockists where ‘lamb lovers’ can purchase our meat, with a clear knowledge of its local origin and quality.
We are passionate about food provenance and food sovereignty – it matters to us as producers, and to you also, as stockists and consumers.
By stocking or purchasing lamb produced by the Hampshire Down Lamb Group, you can be assured that it has been produced here in Northern Ireland by local breeders. Each cut of meat can be traced back to the farm it was reared on.
We produce healthy cuts of meat through sustainable methods of production which protect both the environment and enhance the quality of the product. We are confident that our Hampshire Down lamb will pass the taste test of today’s discerning consumers.
